Bert Jansch

The Foundation

Set up in 2013, in the name of the legendary folk-guitarist and singer-songwriter, the Bert Jansch Foundation embraces the rich heritage of acoustic folk music and celebrates its creativity.
Its charitable aims are to support young acoustic musicians with educational and early career opportunities.
To achieve these aims the Foundation runs workshops, awards grants, transcribes Bert’s music and facilitates training.

The foundation is supported by Bert’s friends and colleagues who serve as Patrons.

Skilled tutors give rare insights into Bert’s influences and his special techniques, riffs and vamps as well as his iconic compositions. New series of online workshop starts 24 May 2020

BJF supports young acoustic musicians and senior students on traditional music courses with funding for projects that will help kickstart their careers. See recent awardees and their projects and how to apply.

An international team of dedicated transcribers created Bert Transcribed: the Bert Jansch Songbook. Optimum notation and tab with background and tips for players for 24 pieces. See reviews and get your copy
