Ian Rankin to be special guest compere at Bert Inspired in Edinburgh

The Bert Jansch Foundation is delighted to be bringing Bert Inspired – a Tribute to Bert Jansch to the city where Bert grew up, and even more thrilled that Edinburgh’s award-winning novelist, Ian Rankin, will be its special guest compere. Rankin has long-held a deep affection for Jansch’s music; which has even permeated one of his celebrated Jack Rebus series of novels. He says “As a long-time fan of Bert’s – I last saw him play live on the stage of the Queen’s Hall – it’s an honour to be involved in what promises to be a remarkable concert.”

Ian Rankin will be introducing the artists paying musical tribute to Bert’s long and varied career: Pentangle’s singer, Jacqui McShee, Bernard Butler, Ben Watt, Karine Polwart, Alasdair Roberts and Archie Fisher. He will also reveal how Jansch’s deep blues and folk has inspired him personally.
