Bert Transcribed workshop at Cecil Sharp House

Following the preparation of the Bert Transcribed song book, the transcription team leaders, Jon Riley and Thomas Fairhurst devised a workshop based on Bert’s music and technique.  The first was held during Celtic Connections  on the morning of the Bert Inspired concert in January 2016. One-day events have since been held at Cecil Sharp House in London and Edinburgh Napier University in October 2016, sponsored by Yamaha.

The Bert Transcribed workshops teach how to acquire some of the guitar techniques that made Bert Jansch’s style unique, with examples and transcriptions from the forthcoming Bert Transcribed Songbook.  They are suitable for fingerstyle guitarists of all abilities: any player with an who can fingerpick and read tab notation will gain from the session.  Participants will also take home transcriptions prepared for the book.

Bert Transcribed guitar workshops are now booking for 2017.  Please see below for available dates. If you are interested in hosting a workshop for your college, university, guitar club or other group, please email info@bertjanschfoundation.org.
